If you take a look at the pictures at the start of this blog post you will see a series of three pictures. These are pictures taken with two of my favorite ladies here in Indianapolis at the NESCO games. We get together at the opening ceremonies and take our picture in the same location each year. As you can guess, three years ago I wasn't able to take part in many events. I still made it out to see the events and my husband took part. Last year I competed in many events but I was mostly a body to fill the teams, not significantly contributing in any way. This year I am happy to say I made progress. I competed in the following corn hole, dodgeball, kickball, cooking, trivia, tug-of-war, long jump, and the 4 by 100 meter relay race.
Not only was I able to increase the competitions I was able to take part in I actually brought home medals! I, along with my teammates, brought home the following medals for Brookside:
- Silver - Kickball
- Bronze - Cooking
- Bronze - Trivia
- Silver - Tug of War
- Bronze - 4 by 100 Meter Relay
If you have followed my story, you know I am not cancer free. However, I am defeating my cancer by living my life. It isn't that I am not tired at the end of the day it is that living my life is more important to me. Make your priorities and goals and go for them.
Are you living your life to its fullest? Make a goal for yourself today, it doesn't have to be a big goal. My goal is to start back up with the C25K program and run a 5K in the fall of 2016. My goal is out there now. What is yours?
